Some feedback

August 24, 2008

Sorry once more for the lack of posting messages on the blog more often. I'm afraid to say that at this point I will continue to be a bit slow in posting messages.

In the blog of July 2008 I already wrote I have been working at 200% for some months. I hoped to come back from my holiday and not having to work at 200% at work anymore. Unfortunately there was no change and by the looks of it, this situation is set to continue for some time.

Don't get me wrong, I love the work I am doing at the moment. Sometimes I'd just wish there was more time to actually sit back and look at it a bit more.

So, lets talk about something else then...

I have totally missed the Olympics. It just doesn't do anything for me to be honest. Obviously I missed most of it because of my holiday, but I never really got into it after my holiday. I have only seen the BMX races. Those were pretty cool - I have to say.

By the way, I want to give you a few links to a website called Biertijd. In English that would be Beertime. Every now and then they collect Amazing Ads. Some of them are really really great. The website is in Dutch, but most of the ads are English. Go check it out:

Back from Egypt

August 17, 2008

Hello again! I am back from two weeks of Egyptian holiday. It was a good holiday and I've seen some interesting and impressive things. Two weeks of sun is good for me!

Egypt is a nice country and the pyramids and Luxor are impressive. The underwater-world is even better. Amazing! I can totally see why people go diving in Egypt.

Though a great country I didn't really feel relaxed in Egypt. Don't know what it is exactly, but it simply isn't a country I'd visit again in the next few years. Some things were a bit dodgy...

For instance. In the graves at Luxor you are not allowed to take photos. This is because they want to save what is left in colors on the walls. There were guards to make sure no-one took photos. However, a few people from our group (it was an excursion) offered 10 Egyptian pounds to the guards. That is just a bit more than 1 Euro. The guards looked the other way and the people got their pictures.

I was astounded. In Egypt anything goes if you pay the tourism police. Horrible. People also really drag you into their shops and swear at you when you're not buying. Amazing.

I can understand the people as well though. They work for 2 or 3 Euros a week! That's about 10 Euros a month! Maybe my view of Egypt was too romantic. I really looked at it like the great country it once was...

Too bad tourism does bad things to a country with such an amazing and interesting history.

Overall though I have to say it was a good vacation and as I said before there were many, many impressive things. The real hateful thing about holidays is that they go by too quickly. I can't believe I have to go back to work tomorrow...

Oh yes... I you have emailed me I am trying to go through the emails asap. If it takes me a few days to reply I apologize in advance.

All the very best.

Two weeks off

August 1, 2008

As of today I am enjoying my holiday. I will not be answering emails, work on this website or do any other work for that matter... During my holiday I relax. Even my cellphone is off.

Tomorrow me and Nadine will travel to wonderful Egypt. I have been looking forward to this vacation. We will try to make the most of it.

I will speak to you guys in about two weeks. If you are going somewhere too - I am wishing you a nice holiday too! If you've been somewhere already - I hope it was good. And if you still have to go - Wishing you a great vacation in advance!

Take care.
