Barcode yourself
June 30, 2008
Hello again, hope you've all had a good weekend. A weekend that saw Spain win the Euro 2008. Not a big surprise, but not something I would have thought at the beginning of the tournament.
I think the tournament was okay, but not great. The final was boring as hell to watch, but there were more games that were worse. Ah well, its done and we can all move on. On to the Tour de Dopage...
I also have a link for you guys. This is probably really really old, but I came across it and I thought it was funny. In this commercial time you can even create your own barcode!
Anyway, back to work now - busy as ever. Hope you've had a good weekend.
Take care.

10 years and counting...

I received a letter yesterday from the RDW. Normally when you receive a letter from the RDW you have been booked for speeding with your car.
Luckily for me it was just a message to have my license extended. In The Netherlands a driver's license is valid for ten years, then it needs to be extended. So, in other words: I've been frightening people on the road for ten years!
Wow. I can imagine looking up to my dad for having a license. It looked to take ages before I turned 18 and was allowed to get one for myself. But now ten years have past. Ten years...
Time really flies...
Take care and speak soon.

Almost totally correct
June 22, 2008
History has shown it is never wrong. Only once in history did a team that won all group matches actually make it to the final and win the Euro Championship.
Yesterday The Netherlands deservedly lost against Russia. Everything about the match spelled disaster from the kick off. The Netherlands never really showed any of what they had shown before.
The only thing that wasn't correct is that Kolodin should have been sent off with a red card. Sure the ball had been out of the field, but still he did make the wrong tackle and Russia should have been reduced to ten men.
Having said that I don't think The Netherlands would have had a chance against 10 men. They simply weren't good enough. They were playing like we've seen them play during the qualifications for this tournament: not good enough.
I fear for the next few years too. Now our keeper Edwin van der Sar (best we ever had) is quiting international football - I have no idea who should be in goal. With all respect, none of the current Dutch keepers matches Edwin's quality.
Anyway, enough football talk. Russia has made it and they deserved it. I wonder how far they can take it...
Take care.

Oh no...
June 17, 2008
Oh no! The Netherlands has just placed itself for the quarter finals of Euro 2008. Oh no? Don't I mean "Hell yeah!"?
Nope, I really mean "Oh no". The Netherlands has become the sixth team to win all group matches. In the past only one team made it all the way after winning all matches: France.
I also think that we're gonna pay for letting Italy go through. If we win the quarter final (Russia or Sweden - tomorrow we'll know) we play the winner of Spain vs Italy. And I have this feeling...
Anyway, for now we can just be proud of the way the team has been playing. Both the full A-squad as todays squad. But looking at the history of the tournament I doubt whether we make it all the way.
I also feel really sorry for Franck Ribéry. He was the dazzle in France's team. He will be the new master of their midfield. Today he was really unlucky and it sums up his tournament: unlucky.

Some words

Once again I am very sorry for the lack of feedback on the website... I've been extremely busy, even working last weekend!
I was working at a theme park in Germany. My employer will be making a game for the park and we were over there taping everything in a blue screen studio. Personally I like green screen better. Just imagine how many people wear jeans, which are blue...
Anyway. It was very busy and hectic, but having said that it was also a lot of fun. But now you know why I haven't been answering emails and writing stuff on this webpage.
Working in Germany also meant I haven't seen the first match of The Netherlands on the European Championships. I've heard and seen some footage of what a succes they were. Hope they repeat the goods tonight, so I can enjoy watching them play awesome football too.
I am still extremely busy as we speak. By posting this kind of information on this website I have noticed I am really busy a lot. So after my summer holiday in August I am planning to let some stuff go. I'd wish I can do all the projects and nice stuff that is being thrown at me. The reality however is that I will have to let some stuff go to prevent a burnout or something. So expect me to write more as of September.
For now, take care and speak soon.

Fun stuff

As it is weekend again I have some time for writing on the blog. This time I want to talk about Indiana Jones-spam and bus drivers in Holland.
When you have a company of your own, expect lots of spam email to hit your inbox. Its just bound to happen, can't do much about it. I have got some great rules in my inbox and am able to filter out the spam.
However, I do read some of it just for the fun of it. And funny it was once again. I find it funny that a lot of the spam about Viagra this time was about Indiana Jones. A guy in his sixties, yet pretending to be twenty-something. So he's gotta use Viagra according to the spam. Personally I find it funny. Everyone has been talking about the new Indiana Jones, including the Viagra people. Haha.
On another note I want to talk about bus drivers in Holland not driving. The drivers in Holland are protesting for better wages. Fine by me. But its now entering the stage of irritation. Its been going on for weeks and now they are planning not to drive until their demands are met.
I totally understand them fighting for a better pay, but nows its starting to be annoying. Some drivers use this time to do whatever they want. Some charge customers money and put it in their own pocket. Its actually just chaos.
Even though I drive to work in my own car I personally feel the protesting going on. Some of my colleagues are travelling by bus. Now they are travelling with me, which isn't a problem at all - but you know how it goes when you're carpooling. You have to make agreements on when to drive to work, what time to leave to travel back home and such. Something I haven't been used to.
Bottom line is that I am starting to grow less sympathy for the bus drivers. Protesting for a better pay is fine, but draw one line. Right now, bus drivers are free to do whatever they like - and thats how it looks by all means.
But then again, there are loads of things going on in this world that are way worse...
Talk soon and take care.
