The Wiz
July 29, 2007
Yesterday we've been out to see the musical The Wiz. We were seated at row 3, which is totally close to the podium so we could see everything really well.
We were definately entertained, but there were also some downpoints to the show.
Nadine had already been to the Tarzan musical this year and she said it would be hard for The Wiz to top it. Turns out she was right. If you are looking for the best musical this year it is Tarzan.
As I am not the biggest musical-lover in the world so maybe my opinion is a bit irrelevant to musical-lovers. I thought The Wiz was okay. It wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't a bad thing to watch and experience. I'd give it a seven out of ten.
And as a multimedia designer I had a special interest in the background visuals (which were projected on a big wall). I felt they could have been done a bit better overall. Obviously I don't know the budget and deadline, but I'd expect it to be pretty good for an expensive musical. So the multimedia background visuals get a three out of ten. They mostly lacked creativity. They were a total let-down.
Anyway, overall it was a good night out. We've enjoyed it and thats all that matters.
Speak 2 U soon.

Theo de Rooij is a bloody idiot!
July 27, 2007
Last week I mentioned the tour was very interesting with Rasmussen in the lead. Unfortunately the Rabobank team has done a very stupid thing and sensationally sacked Rasmussen.
Theo de Rooij (Rabobank team boss) is the biggest idiot I have ever seen...
When drivers are taken out because they do drugs I can totally understand that. But what happened to Rasmussen is just stupid. He didn't do much wrong.
Theo de Rooij decided to take him out of the tour because he had apparantly lied to him. That is based on the stories of some Italian (jealous?) driver and the growing frustrations of French papers (because its been some time a driver has been good enough to win le tour).
Rasmussen should have won this tour. A little lie that isn't even proven is nowhere near as bad as drugs. And the possible winner Contador IS known by the dope doctor Fuentes. Yep, now they've got a real winner (find the sarcasm in that line!). Actually the truth is that Contador has been questioned in the Fuentes affair. Because he confessed all, he didn't get a fine or anything! So a cheat is winning this year!
To me Rasmussen is this years winner. And he has been robbed of the title by the Rabobank team. Stupid idiots, they can finally win something and they fuck up again!
I am very glad that Greg LeMond feels quite similar than I do. There's a (former) driver with a good mind... It won't help though. This was my last tour and I will never say anything about it anymore. Le tour is dead - good riddance!
Take care.

Le Tour
July 22, 2007
This year is the first year I am missing everything about le tour de France. I've missed all the TV coverage from day 1.
Reason is because of the poor coverage and just last week I got my right. At the moment I am writing this Michael Rasmussen is in the lead for the yellow jersey.
As always, when a rider is getting a name for himself in le tour - so does the press. This week the papers were stuffed with information that Rasmussen hadn't told the anti-doping commity where he was during stages of training.
So, could these year end the same as last year? With a man in the yellow who is immediately burnt after le tour? A man who will spend so much time in courtrooms that he will never bike again?
Personally this is my opinion: I think all drivers do take something. I cannot imagine its normal to a human body to drive over 200 km a day. But I do think its the press who blows this out of proportion and is killing the sport along with it. They continually say the drivers who take stuff are the men killing the sport. But personally, I think its the "sports" journalists who are writing the sport into the ground.
Ah well, its amazing that le tour is such a big thing in sports. But thats probably because its got everything in it: heroes, losers, drugs, human performance... And nice girls giving away the jerseys!
Hmm, maybe I should watch it this last week. I've convinced myself with my own writings above... ;)
Talk later.

Boiled out!
July 15, 2007
Today we experienced a weird smell through our house. After sniffing closely everywhere we soon found that the problem came from the boiler room.
After calling our landlord we soon found out it must have been boiled out.
Apparantly they forgot to tell us that we had to fill it with water every now and then. So now the water level was zero and the boiler started boiling itself. Maybe we are lucky and it can be easily fixed. But it could just be that we have to pay 600 Euros for a new one!
I am very
So now we have no hot water for the days to come. We have to wait and take cold showers until we know more. Oh yeah, and we have to pay for something we should have been told about.
Take care.

Corné Simpson
July 9, 2007
If you're a big fan of the Simpsons (like me) you should check out their upcoming movie website.
On the site you can create yourself in the Simpsons character look-and-feel. The character on the right is supposed to be me...
Now lets hope the movie lives up to the high expectations. I think its a bit like the Southpark movie. The expectations were high, but fans were not let down. Finally a Simpsons movie!
All the best.

Wiiiiiiiiiii!
July 4, 2007
It was really difficult to get hold of the Nintendo Wii, but today I managed to get one!
I had ordered it at a big online store, but had been waiting for months already. Luckily a colleague notice that Media Market (or Media Markt in Dutch) had a bunch just in!
I quickly cancelled my order at the online store and rushed to the Media Market. Tonight me and Nadine have been playing the standard sports games that come with it. Great fun! I am pretty good at tennis - Roger better beware, next year I'll win Wimbledon...
Next on the to-do list is to find me a second controller (Media Market was all out of them unfortunately) and some decent games. For the first time in history I am actually excited about a games-console. My brother has every Nintendo system there is, but the Wii will do for me.
Anyway, gotta get back to the games. Talk later... ;)

Comedy Central
July 1, 2007
We've got Comedy Central for just over a month now on Dutch television. And I think its a valid addition to our other television networks.
I love comedy and Comedy Central broadcasts great comedy shows - like, duh! Whats in a name...
I especially enjoy That 70's Show, which is the best show on the network. Stuff like Saturday Night Live I don't get. Most of the time its not even that funny... Maybe its too American to be funny to Europeans? I don't know.
That 70's Show is probably really good because its stuff everyone can relate too. Everyone knows what it was like to be a teen. Back then, as a teen, you probably didn't see the humor in being a teen. But looking at this show and thinking back about being a teen is just hilarious.
I've been checking Dutch stores whether this series is available on DVD. Unfortunately it isn't. The only option is to buy imports through Australia. But the one single DVD costs as much as 4 Hollywood blockbuster movies. That's a shame.
Because Comedy Central (Netherlands) has a small marathon of the That 70's Show every saturday I've now bought enough DVD's to record them from television. I just can't get enough from that show.
Anyway, take care and all the best.
