Long weekend
May 28, 2007
Hope you enjoyed the long weekend as much as I have enjoyed it. We started the weekend by celebrating my sister's birthday - so that was a good start.
Then we visited both sides of the family. Together with my family we visited the yearly market in Reusel, a place close to my birthplace.
Today we just took it easy. A simple, nice day. And thanks to Conimex I impressed my girlfriend with some Indonesian food. My girlfriend's mother and grandparents are from Indonesia. I'm not as good as they are in the kitchen, but Conimex makes me come a lot closer to their quality. Haha.
Anyway, hope you've relaxed a bit too.
Take care, speak soon.

Overkill
May 22, 2007
Hey there. I am sorry it took a while for another blog-message. But I have worked too hard (haha) lately and my wrist is a bit strain.
Nothing serious, just got to take it easy for a little while. Stop using the computer all the time. Hmm, maybe ordering that Wii wasn't a good idea for my wrist...
And read less papers. All those papers to turn... Actually it really is pretty bad with papers in The Netherlands lately. We used to have two free daily papers which are spread at train stations. Really great and brilliant to kill the boredom of the train-trip to and from work.
But making free papers must be a good business. Now we have four free papers. So every morning I am greeted by 4 people trying to give me a free paper. Wow, the boomin' business that is paper... I thought the internet was gonna make papers redundant... ;)
From now on I am only taking the Metro paper. Why? Because I can take it myself from their box and no-one is shuffling it into my hands. Really glad free papers exsist, but there is a thing called overkill...
Anyway, talk later.

How's your band knowledge?
May 17, 2007
Alright, I've got a quiz for you guys! Its about bands. There's an Excell-file you can download over here.
Your task is to fill in all the bandnames for the photos shown. There's a total of 270 photos shown. Together with the people at work and friends I've managed to get 270 names.
So if you are stuck somewhere, email me and I'll try to give you a clue to get you going again.
The bands are not just from the last 5 years, but also older bands from the 60's and 70's. So expect bands like The Beatles, KISS, Air Supply, Mud. But also bands from the 90's like The Prodigy, Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls.
Good luck!

The new LP
May 11, 2007
I was looking forward to today for quite a while now. May 11 is the official release-date for the new Linkin Park album!
The new album already leaked on the internet but I always buy albums when I like them. And I like the new Linkin Park album, yet not as much as the previous albums.
The previous albums were mostly tracks with lots of "layers". Fans will know what I mean. This new album is more rock, less layers. Its only logical that a band evolves, but I would have liked the layers for some more time too.
Tracks like: Given Up, Bleed It Out, What I've Done and No More Sorrow are definately my favourites. I don't really appreciate the "soft" numbers. Linkin Park for me means rock! So its only logical I like the numbers that are more rock and up-tempo.
Anyway, after a brilliant Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the third studio album by Linkin Park is another hit!
Take care and have a good weekend!

Niue
May 8, 2007
Today I looked at the statistics for this site again. It had been some time since I bothered to look at the figures.
Over the past months there's always been one country that I never really knew anything about - Niue. I though my knowledge was okay, but Niue was totally new to me.
These hits got me interested in the country. What type of country is it? Where can I find it? What is it known for?
Niue (pronounced: "new-eh") is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is commonly known as the "Rock of Polynesia". Natives of the island call it "the Rock." Although it is self-governing, it is in free association with New Zealand.
Obviously the information above was found through Wikipedia. But now I have a picture with the name Niue! Looks like a great country, on the other side of the world from where I live. Hello to the visitors from Niue!

Take care.

Spidey 3
May 6, 2007
Yesterday me and Nadine have seen the latest Spider-man movie, Spider-man 3.
The reviews in Dutch papers and magazines were not too good. But that never having stopped us before, we went to the cinema to find out how we'd feel about the movie.
The Spider-man series is a series that me and Nadine both like. Other movies with heroes have not really made an impession on both of us (although I feel the X-men series is pretty decent too). So reflecting on that the Spider-man series is pretty good to be both appealing to men and women.
Unfortunately the makers have made the same mistake as the Batman movies. Every new movie had to be bigger. Without giving away anything I'd say the new movie is too stuffed. There's simply too much going on (even for 2,5 hours). But, where critics normally tend to be very negative, here's my positives for this movie:
The effects for the Sandman are great. They're a bit like the sand-effect used in the Mummy, but much more detailed. And then there's the bad Spidey. The effects on him are great, but I also feel that both Tobey Maguire and Topher Grace play him very well. The highlight of this movie is definately bad Spidey, effects-wise and acting-wise.
Summary: A nice movie, one that true fans of Spider-man will like. Having said that, it is also definately not the best of the series.
Take care.

Weird shit
May 5, 2007
Yesterday there was a really weird article in the paper. An American judge sues his laundry service for losing his pants two years ago.
Not a strange news fact, right? Well, where you and me would ask for money to by a new pair of pants, this judge asks for $ 67 million!
That must have been some pants! Apparantly he is suing on the ground of the slogan of the laundry service: satisfaction guaranteed.
He isn't satisfied and sues them for $ 67 million?!?! Its pretty obvious a humble laundry company cannot pay $ 67 million - if it had that kind of money I reckon they'd not have a laundry service...
Only in America... Luckily though there are people who agree with me that judge Roy L. Pearson Jr. is a twisted fuck and he should not be allowed to be a judge anymore. How can a person be this unrealistic and judge other people? Read more right here.
Take care & keep track of your trousers my friends!

Did you know...
May 2, 2007
I am probably the last person in the world to find out about this, but did you know that a black cartridge in your printer is worth more than your blood?!?
Last week I got a link from a colleague to a website that showcased the prices of liquids.
The price per gallon for black ink is $ 2,701.52. A gallon of human blood is rated at $ 1,514.79. Isn't it amazing that something as precious as human blood actually is rated lower than ink?
Luckily ink is not the most expensive liquid though. The top five features scorpion venom ($ 38,858,507.46), Thailand cobra venom ($ 152,835.82), LSD ($ 122,880.00), Chanel no.5 ($ 25,600.00) and Insulin ($ 9,411.76).
I never though my ink would be worth more than my blood....
Anyway, busy day today. I've been over at the bank to talk pension. Pfew. Got to see loads of interesting figures, but I wonder what they look like when I can actually start using the money in 2044(!).
After that we've visited my parents because my mother turned 52 today. What a feat! Congratulations mum!
Got to find my bed now. Man tired. Man need sleep.
Take care.
