Last message of 2006
December 27, 2006
Christmas has passed my house this year. I was struck down with stomach-flu and actually spend Christmas in bed, without food.
I can only hope I will get better over the next days so I'll be able to hold down some champagne on the 31st.
Its the end of the year, so its time to reflect on 2006. Personally I feel I have achieved a lot this year, both on personal and business level. On a personal level this year will go down as the year in which me and Nadine moved to Den Bosch.
On a business level I have worked on very interesting stuff. Like the work I did as a designer / art director on the "Inburgeringsexamens" - kinda a big thing in the Netherlands. Obviously that was done on behalf of my part-time employer Andriessen and Partners.
Talking about Andriessen and Partners - I will end working for them in March of 2007. I have enjoyed my time for them, but both the employer and myself have found that we have different goals.
So I am currently looking for a new job. And this time I want to try and make it a step up the ladder. I have almost 7 years experience so I think its time to use my knowledge as an Art Director / Creative Director / Designer.
Or maybe a job where I can combine sales with working as a designer. Or maybe combine designing with the leading of projects. Or maybe more work as a concept-artist. I just need a new drive. So I hope I can find that job within three months.
Before this message is getting too long: I look back at 2006 with a smile on my face. I hope 2007 can be just as interesting. No. I hope 2007 will be even more interesting and I am looking forward for the things to come! Hope you are too?!
All the best and have a great New Year's Eve.

Christmas Cards
December 15, 2006
Pfew, thats done. I have posted all the Christmas cards for this year. I think it must have been about 150 cards, both through classic mail and email.
For the personal card of myself and Nadine I have drawn the both of us in Illustrator in our new appartment in Den Bosch.
I quickly placed the Illustrator drawing of myself in Flash for the image shown with this post. Over the past year my knowledge of Flash and Illustrator has thankfully grown a lot. I am starting to believe Flash is really cool... ; )
The Flash Christmas cards by OfficeMax are pretty cool too. Go Elf Yourself or let them Guess Your Gift or place your wish in the Worldwide Christmas Wish Tree.
All the best.

Weekend
December 11, 2006
Last weekend we have been to the Christmas party of Nadine's employer. It was a neat party, including a night in the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam.
The hotel was a weird, yet cool experience. In the past the hotel had been a jail, a juvenile hall and hospital.
So the building itself had some cool old architecture to it. The party was at the "Scheepvaartmuseum" in Amsterdam. It was a nice way to spend the weekend.
Hope you lot had a great weekend too! ; )
Cards
December 8, 2006
Today the cards I made for Project 79 have arrived from the printer. They have a really simple design, but it works for me. I have made it in Dutch, because most of my contacts are Dutch. However I have made a digital English version too, for all other contacts of my company.

The backside of the card reads:
2006 was an exciting year for Project 79. The biggest question we asked ourselves was: "Can we have another successful year, just like the one we had in 2005?"
Well, we could.
This year we have, again, surprised ourselves. Not only did we deliver better quality, we also worked on some very cool new Projects (Talpa, LOI, Philips, and many others).
So this year we aren't asking whether 2007 can be that successful again. We know it can be. We know it will be. So we will just bang on, with you, in the direction of success.
After that there's the best wishes and that kind of stuff. I'll be sending the cards out soon. The same goes for the personal card, which I will post on this website later.
For now, all the best and have a great weekend!

Cool!

There's a cool new search-engine online. We all know Google, right? When you enter a string in Google you get a page with the results.
Wouldn't it be great if the results would be more visual? Now they are, with PageBull! Here's a link: PageBull.
This search engine triggers the ego. How cool is it to search for your own name with this search engine?! I tried typing my name and found some interesting results that I did not get through Google.
Apparantly my phrase in the New Masters of Photoshop book is used on the Organic Flash website under "Good quotes to inspire the day". Now there's something Google doesn't show me on the first pages! Too bad the PageBull site is overloaded at times and doesn't show many images when this happens.
I also found a lot of weblinks to another Corné van Dooren. Yes, there is another one out there. He actually mailed me a long time ago. And last week I got some mail in the postbox that must have been for him.
Really strange to know there's someone else using the very same name. Especially since Corné isn't a first name that turns up that often. The way my last name is written is very original as well. So its really strange to know there's another one of me out there... ; )
Anyway, take care and all the best.

Ready
December 3, 2006
As most of you have read in the November blog I am currently trying to find a new job. To show my dedication in finding a new one, I have altered the website to hopefully express more creativity.
I felt the previous website to be a bit dull. It wasn't really that creative.
So I have changed the website a bit to have a clear and content-driven message. The portfolio is the thing that should stand out. In previous versions it may not have been. Some things may have been deleted, some may have been added.
The bottom line is that I want the website to show more creativity. I also once again want to apologize to the colleagues who had to find out that I am leaving through the blog. I have no idea why it wasn't communicated internally. But then again I do: communication. ;)
Anyway, I hope you like the new version. I have also added more recent work in the portfolio. If you find any dead links or something similar please let me know!
All the best.
