Awesome!
January 24, 2006
Today me and Nadine have been to Amsterdam for the first showing of Staya Erusa, a film project I was involved with for 3D animation.
Actually my animation only lasted about a minute and a half. But in the movie it is stretched over 3 minutes. Which is awesome already, but my biggest awe was yet to come...
Although there were some Dutch celebrities I felt the real fireworks were cracking on the big cinema screen! In one word its just awesome to see your own work at that size, especially when you're seated in those red cinema chairs. I almost pinched myself to find out whether this was not a dream. And although I had already seen my work on the big screens in the PSV Football Stadium before, this was even better... in a single word: awesome!
So tonight I'll probably fall asleep with a big fat grin on my face... ; )
All the best and take care.
Amsterdam
January 20, 2006
I am one of those Dutch guys who has not been to the capital of his country very often. Actually I have only been there 2 times, both times for professional duties.
But last Wednesday and next Tuesday double the score. Again I will visit Amsterdam professionally. Last Wednesday I was over at ID TV to talk about a big project I am involved with as designer. ID TV has a very nice building (great leather seats in the waiting room) and it was easy to find!
Next Tuesday I'll be over to Amsterdam because the film I have worked on will be officially released at the Kriterion. I think it will be an amazing experience, but as the day comes closer I am also getting more nervous about it. I have never before been to a premiere, so don't really know what to expect.
Anyway, I'll let you know how everything went down next week. I will take my digital camera and try to make a nice photo for this site. Okay? More info on the project can be found at the Project 79 website.
All the best and have a good weekend!
Another great weekend
January 15, 2006
This weekend me and Nadine have visited the Holiday Event in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. We went there to find out more about our possible vacation to Australia this year.
After our mind-blowing vacation to Mauritius in 2004 I am really up for another similar experience. The biggest issue we'll have to try and solve is the amount of free days. Looking at the brochures we would have to do a 30-days tour of Australia to see all we want to see. But I don't even think I can take that many days off from work... So we'll see what happens... But still Australia looks impressive!
Also a big welcome to the world to Dylano Jason Guiljam. Dylano is the second son of Olaf and Germaine, Germaine is the sister of my girlfriend Nadine. Many congrats to the Guiljam-posse!
All the best and take care.
First Insight added
January 11, 2006
Today I've added the first Insights to the portfolio section of this website. With the Insights I try to show you a little more of the process behind a visual, movie or anything else.
The Insights are not tutorials you'll just have to follow to create a similar image.
They show the step by step process of an image from my portfolio. The word says it all - these stories are online to give you an insight in the way I work. Maybe one day I'll find the time to write out the full details of every step...
Anyway, hope you appreciate my effort in giving you an insight in the way I work. Most Insights are at this point in Photoshop, but I aim to put some other stuff online too.
All the best and take care.
Update: The Insights have been taken offline.
Ice skating and grandma's birthday
January 9, 2006
Hello! I can only hope your weekend was as good as mine. This weekend was again a very good one.
Me and Nadine went ice skating in Eindhoven. I had done it before, but that was at the age of 17. That event had also been my only experience until last Saturday.
So almost 10 years after my introduction to ice skating it was time for another go at it. In the end I was very happy as I didn't fall even once. In fact, the experience was so nice that I don't think it'll take another ten years...
On Sunday we celebrated my grandmother's birthday (82). This was also very cool and I got to see some family members I otherwise hardly ever see. So all and all it was a fantastic weekend. The new year is starting pretty good! ; )
All the best.
This has to be my year
January 4, 2006
Hello again. I hope you all had a pleasant and safe new years eve. Everybody's still got ten fingers?
Anyway, time for me to put a first message in the blog of 2006! I am hoping 2006 will be my year. Last year was a big downer for me as I lost my job, crashed the best car I ever had (blog September 2005) and endured some other nasty stuff...
I am now ready for a brilliant year - leaving all the troubles behind me. The kick off for "my year" is this new version of the website. Given some time you'll see that I didn't just change the cover. I will place insight stories in the portfolio, giving you an overview of how I work with Photoshop amongst others.
After all, 70% of the visitors of this website are familiair with at least one Adobe software tool. I hope you like this new version of the website. Oh yeah, I also dropped some stuff - but looking at the visits on those pages you won't miss those items. ; )
Anyway, all the best and lets kick ass in 2006!
